Why I started The Wild Gamer
I noticed a massive gap in the market: there are a number of great sites out there for gaming related news and details, but most of the time, it's all written by people who don't actually bother to play the titles that they're talking about. This is the complete opposite to what I want: that's why The Wild Gamer came along and said "Hey, I'll actually play these games – as someone who knows what's good – and then write about it!". Instead of a journalist first, you've got a gamer first – and that's the secret sauce that has brought a huge amount of success to The Wild Gamer. People notice and recognize that having someone who's seriously invested in this realm is fantastic, and I do my best to play games as much as possible – with the end result being top tier information for you to make your decisions upon!
Variety is the spice of life
I find myself wanting to play a wide variety of games – The Wild Gamer isn't the type to play the same title over and over again until the cows come home. Don't get me wrong, I can put hundreds of hours into various projects, but to ensure that my readers are getting the best possible information, I keep my finger on the pulse of the industry and try out as many titles as I can. It's a fine line to ensure that I play enough to know what's hot and what's not: although I think I do it pretty damn well. Hell, most of the time, it's a struggle to get me to stop playing all of these great games so I can get on and try other things out.
Knowing about stellar gaming
I've been a gamer for the longest time, and that really does mean that I have advanced knowledge on what a good game looks like. It's also important to realize that different games have different things that make them fantastic. Certain titles are focused more on the lore and the story, whereas others come to you with mechanics and competitiveness as the main element of the experience. Sonic is a fantastic platformer that we all know and love – sure, it has a story, but is that why you're playing it? Of course not! Whereas for a game series like Final Fantasy, there's a high focus on ensuring that it's as rich as possible when it comes to its story and plot. I make sure to adapt my reviews and recommendations based on this: you're not going to get me marking down Rocket League because it doesn't come with much character development or world building.
I'm great at gaming
I'm sorry, but if you go and look at video reviews from various high status outlets, you'll find that when journalists play games … they're just not very good. This isn't something that you need to worry about with me. I've been highly ranked in a number of different games and I know how to engage competitively in a wide array of titles. The Wild Gamer isn't opposed to knuckling down and trying as hard as possible to get as far as possible: in fact, I think it's almost a prerequisite for any reviewer to be willing to put in the hard work to give each and every title as much credit as possible when it comes to its difficulty and what happens when you're actually pretty damn good at the releases. Sure, I'm never going to be at the level of Magnus Carlsen when it comes to chess or Faker when it comes to League: but I'm still a top tier gamer who knows what he's doing!
A labor of love
I'm passionate about gaming: I really am. It's my all-time favorite thing, and I know that I'll continue to do this until the day that I die. There's just something about it: the endless bliss, the hunt for the perfect title, the constant stream of fresh releases to try out and enjoy. The Wild Gamer is here to stay, and I'm going to put a lot of time and effort into this review website as new projects come along so that you can always be sure to get yourself access to the best information out there – no matter what. if you're also passionate about gaming, I urge you to get in touch and tell me about your favorite titles. Give me full details – what you love about it, where you're at, why you look forward to playing it – so on and so on. The Wild Gamer thrives when I read about what others enjoy, and all you've got to do is send me an email to bring me that pleasure! Oh, and if your game isn't listed here and I've never played it – chances are I'm going to go ahead and do exactly that so I can give it a proper review!
